Cemetery Survey, Removal and Skeletal Analysis


The Archaeological Research Laboratory maintains a full-time staff specializing in mortuary archaeology and bioarchaeology. Dr. Nicholas P. Herrmann directs the bioarchaeology program at ARL and has 19 years of skeletal biology and forensic anthropology field and laboratory experience throughout the Southeast, Midwest and Southwest United States. The services ARL can provide our clients include:

  • Burial excavation and documentation
  • Cemetery Recording and Removal
  • Field and Laboratory Osteological Analysis
  • Grave Identification and On-site Consultation

In addition to Dr. Herrmann, numerous biological anthropology researchers in the Department of Anthropology serve as consultants to the ARL. Departmental projects include research in paleodemography, paleopathology, bone and tooth histology, and quantitative osteometric and anthropometric variation of past and present populations.
